As we gather in Los Angeles for the National Nursing Ethics Conference, we will also be celebrating Ethics of Caring’s® 30th anniversary and its many years of providing an opportunity for nurses to come together and learn about the intersection of nursing and ethics in clinical practice.  That conference evolved into the National Nursing Ethics Conference (NNEC) which will be marking its 10th year.  Some of you have been with us since 1994 and we hope some will be joining us for the first time. We are committed to a belief that clinical work requires developing an expertise in recognizing and responding to the moral questions that arise in healthcare. We are privileged to be able to do this together in community, to collectively learn from each other and creatively develop practical approaches to the ethical challenges we face.

We believe the theme this year, “Claiming Meaning and Purpose in Nursing: Why It Matters” will guide us as we come to understand both the roots that ground us, the nourishment needed to sustain us, and paths and actions to enhance our professions future.
